I played it an emulator (the collection version but it still counts.) And it was AMAZING. I would recommend playing the game yourself, either on an actual DS system or an emulator. Obviously, there will be some spoilers in this review, so if you plan on finding out what happens for yourself. I'll tell you why in the following review. (NOTE: As with many reviews, this is for the DS version, but I will mention the Wii version a few times.)ĭrawn to Life: The Next Chapter is an excellent game with excellent gameplay. If they do not mind more childish games, they are mature enough, and they do not mind playing a decades-old game, then I would recommend this game wholeheartedly. Books like To Kill a Mockingbird have most likely been covered in English class, and these books surpass the amount of maturity needed to consume this game, however, they may not like some of the more childish parts of this game. Kids 13 or older will probably have already consumed stories of this maturity. Although, if you are playing this game through the Drawn to Life Collection, that contains this game and this game's prequel, then you will experience a censored and much more tame ending, where Mike falls out of a tree while camping, and in the short amount of the time when he's unconscious, he experiences the events in the game. This is a very dark ending that I, admittedly, did not quite understand when I was younger. The ending depicts an "everything was a dream" scenario, revealing that the world was all a dream from a character named Mike that happened after he was the victim of a car accident that also kills both of his parents. Keep in mind, this is a song the player can hear and discern the lyrics of. Another one of the characters, a mother of a boy named Miles, sings about her soon-to-arrive doom to her son. The character, Mari, defies The Creator in a segment of the game, essentially having a religious crisis. You play as The Creator, and you interact with the world through a player character with a custom appearance and name. This game has themes of death, and to some extent, religiosity. Spoiler warning in the next two paragraphs. It has a childish atmosphere and appearance, however the story is very dark at times. However, for me the issue in this game lies in it's themes. From its story to its game-play, this game is very fun and has a good message.
